What I Watched This Week (Since February, Sorry)

It has been a minute since I blogged. Life happened, but I have been watching stuff so here’s a quick rundown of what I’ve seen lately and how I felt about it.

Mickey 17
4.5/5
Bong Joon Ho gave me something genuinely fresh and original here. It leans into sci-fi in a way that felt both weird and thoughtful. I just wish there was a little more depth outside of Mickey himself. The other characters kind of got left behind, but overall it was absolutely worth watching.

Sinners
5/5
This was phenomenal. A transformative movie that highlights Black culture through music, storytelling, and community. Everything worked for me. From start to finish it felt rich, important, and just good. No complaints.

Kpop Demon Hunters
4.7/5
This one surprised me. Yes, it felt short and rushed in some places but the music? Incredible. The way it was used to push the story forward really worked. I left feeling satisfied even with the flaws and I would definitely recommend it.

Captain America: Brave New World
1/5, did not finish
I gave it a shot but it lost me quick. I might go back just for Anthony Mackie because he is clearly trying, but otherwise it is everything I expected from the worst version of MCU. I already had zero expectations and it somehow managed to be worse.

One of Them Days
1/5, did not finish
I tapped out right before the phlebotomist scene. I have a blood phobia and saw the joke coming a mile away so I just turned it off. This one will probably stay unfinished.

Ironheart
3.7/5 so far
I still have three episodes left but based on what I have seen, it is good. Genuinely sweet in parts, feels personal, and has a nice flow to it. It is not perfect but I am enjoying it enough to finish it.

The Bear Season 4
4/5
Another solid season of The Bear. The writing is tight, the pacing works, and the characters are good. I just wish I liked Carmy as much as literally anyone else on the show. Everyone else feels layered and compelling but I am still waiting to care about him. The rest of the cast continues to hold it down though.
